Skill Sets are composed of one or more units of competency from a training package and are designed to meet licensing or regulatory requirements, or industry needs. Once successfully completed, graduates will receive a Statement of Attainment in this skill set.
How long will it take?
This is not a half day course. Considerable time will need to be set aside for research, reading and answering online quizzes, questions and short assignments. Most of the graduates of the course have taken several months to complete the required work.
The course is undertaken at your own pace as there are no set classes. You can potentially take a month or two to complete or it may take you much longer – it all depends on how much time you have to commit to the course.
How does the course work?
The theory component of the course is conducted online in our Learning Management System (LMS) and comprises of commencement documents to demonstrate your knowledge prior to commencing the training, required reading resources, videos, compulsory questions and assessments by the trainer.
Some components are automatically marked, others require feedback from the trainer. If you do not successfully pass a component of the course, you will be given the opportunity to re-submit the component that did not pass at no additional cost. We do, however, recommend that you read the learner resources and any other material provided as well as watch all available videos and presentations prior to attempting quizzes/questions or assessments to reduce the likelihood of not passing.
You will have access to your trainer via phone and email and your trainer will be available to answer any questions or queries you may have about the course.
Please note that the onus is on you to complete the course.
Is it all online?
Most of the course is conducted online in our LMS, however, you will need to organise time with a licensed harvester in the field to complete the practical component of the course – evidence from this session by way of photos/videos and a referees report are required to be submitted to the trainer for assessment of competence. If you do not know of a licenced harvester, please advise us and we may be able to match you with one of our contacts.
What if I have previous meat processing experience?
Do I have to do the whole course?
If you have a previous qualification in meat processing that includes any of the units in this game harvesting skill set we may be able to offer you a credit transfer so that you do not have to complete the unit again. We will require a copy of your Certificate and/or Statement of Attainment, prior to commencing the skill set, showing the units you have been deemed competent in. FGM Consultants will then advise you if the previous qualification meet the credit transfer requirements.
If you are offered credit transfers, FGM Consultants may also offer you a reduced rate.
Cost
The price is $1,700.00 including GST and we require $850.00 prior to commencement and the remaining $850.00 once you have passed the course (before we issue the Statement of Attainment).
